Introduction

Politics is inescapable this year. Not to mention that I have plenty of time to think about things. I am limiting this hub's subject to my feelings about the stuff flying through the air and internet.

If you want to add a limerick to comment section, send it in and I will take a look at it. I will only ask that you follow the Hubpages policies. Thanks!

PS - I would really like to hear from all parts of the political spectrum. I don't have to agree with everything in the comment section to include it in this particular hub.

Comments on Be Glad

I was wondering at the time if anyone would post limericks in the comment section. I would love to see opposing views in limerick form. I think that free speech implies that I can listen to you.

Limerick added June 23, 2011

Be Glad

It is important to me

That I listen and see

To words you make

Actions you take

Be glad our speech is free.

The Limericks Added on June 20, 2011

Why?

Why do you keep telling me

“Our plan will fix the economy.”

It’s a hard sell.

Your claims won’t gel.

If you keep taking from me!

Part time Politicians: Bureaucrats are forever.

Respect is demanded of me

By those in office i see

I would comply

Really would try

If not for the tax man and DMV.

Too Busy

I was too busy to listen

To the words of a politician

He hit the right note

For him I did vote

Now, I have time to listen.

PO Warning

Honestly, I could care less

Which Party created this mess.

I am PO’d

My vote is not owed

My life is under such stress.

Dry Well

I have no doubt that you mean well.

It’s just that you’re trying to sell

Your own point of view

Of what I must do.

You are wishing in a dry well.

Interviewing Myself? No one else wanted to

Interview with Leroy64

Who am I writing about?

You will have to figure that out for yourself.

What is a limerick?

It is a fixed length poem. A limerick has five lines. The rhyme scheme is AABBA. This is according toThe Heath Introduction to Literature, Third Edition, by Alice S. Landry. There is more to it; but, it has been covered really well in hub articles by other people.

When did you write this?

I am hoping my observations are timeless. I am writing this in June of 2011

Where?

Hubpages. Where else? Oh, I see. All politics is local.

Why chose a limerick?

The reason is that a limerick is easily remembered, if I write it well. A secondary benefit is that it is very hard to wander off message.

How do you write limericks?

I write limericks with a pencil. Revise the poem in pencil until I am happy with it. Let it sit for a day Then type it into a word document.

Our leaders from Garfield to Grover,

got greet'n when Fido skipped over,

but rich resident dog-tied,

while this president's hog-tied,

We give certain victims seniority,

Get shot,.and become a priority,

there's riot and looting,

Provided the shooting,

Is not by another minority

In the mirror Obama sees Lancelot,

though we're gettin kicked in the pants alot,

Took toys and we left,

Our boys are bereft,

From fear that we're lookin like France alot.

the 'Powers' should lay it on hard,

These cowards un-Saintly and scarred,

so that payin for bounty,

means playin for 'County',

Talk of profiling really does puzzle'em,

Our press, who would hug em and nuzzle'em,

Claim 'they don't all cause terror',

But there's nothing that's rare'er,

than a terrorist who isn't a muslim.

Obama gave Catholic's dismay,

Unfair..and unwilling to sway,

From extolling the worth,

Of controlling the birth,

cuz where there's a pill there's a way.

He fled...leaving folks in dismay,

Now the vessel...it's jacked up,

we're guessing he's packed up,

cuz the next trip ..he's 'going away'

Obama said he'd change the way

They act in D.C. every day

But his chance he has blown

And now it is known

He won't have much longer to stay.
