Dragons of Atlantis: A Kabam MMO on Google Plus
79Update
I now play the game on the KABAM website rather than Google +. The game was cluttering up my Google+ account and the KABAM website responds better. I still like Google +. Its a great service. I just don't like to play computer games on it.
Dragons of Atlantis is the trademarked tile of a social strategy game owned by Kabam. It was originally developed by Wonderhill which was acquired by Kabam about a year ago. If you are wondering, it is one of those games that annoying “friends” on Facebook keep inviting you to play. It is basically a strategy, or war, game set in the prehistory island of Atlantis. (A very interesting argument can be had about whether Atlantis existed.) That means lots of magic, swords, and Dragons, of course. There is also a great deal of city building; but, nowhere near the level of SimCity. Admittedly this game is not for everyone; but, I enjoy it.
If you are not a big fan of Facebook, do not worry. I play this game on Google Plus. I use the Google social network more than Facebook and the games are easier to use. Google Plus is much more intuitive to use. You are sharing information with the company operating the game servers, so keep personal information to a minimum if you are going to jump in.
You have two basic approaches to this game depending on your personality. One can simply play the game and level up naturally. The other option is to purchase rubies through the store. You could do both; but, I am way too cheap to do that. Besides, it’s just a game.
The game does depend on attacks on computer enemies and players. A certain ruthlessness is encouraged. To restate that sentence: The game has its share of jerks. Please show me any place that does not have those people around, besides a morgue. There are ways to deal with them in this game.
New players are protected for the first seven days in order to allow them to develop their cities. After the grace period is over, it is just a matter of time before people start raiding your city for resources. There are strategies to protect resources. Developing a certain building will protect a specific amount of resources. If you have joined and alliance, you can share resources and make yourself less of a target. If they are a big enough alliance, then they can punish the offender by raiding him. There will not be much the jerk can complain about. Just don’t take on someone bigger than you can handle.
Complaining to the moderators will have the same result as going to a teacher about a bully in high school. It just pisses off the bully; and, makes you a target for future attacks. Eventually you will outgrow your attacker, so brute strength in not always in your best interest. The problem with depending on strength is that there is always someone bigger and stronger and smarter.
The point of all game is to develop an army, to repel attacks, and to develop your city to its limits. You will be ranked according to the levels you reach. If you are in an alliance, then the point is to develop the alliance until it is first on the leader board. Don’t be distracted by side issues like raids.
PS – I don’t believe in blindly inviting people to play. It’s annoying when it happens to me; and, I like this game.

But Dragons of Atlantis has been practically unplayable on Google+ for days now. No amount of browser tweaking, or changing has helped. So, is it a Google+, or a Kabam problem? I have no clear idea about that, but if this situation continues, both can expect me canceling the accounts. I still don't like Facebook and go there at best every few days. Wouldn't even think of playing any games on FB anyway.

I've paid for Rubies (you cannot seem to find/win enough Completion grants).
Since I've made the purchases - some of the items I bought were wsted due to time-outs, unknown errors, attacks not going out, troops not coming back etc. etc. etc.
Kabam seem intent on taking our money, but not providing a game that can be played, nor any support when issues occur.
I cannot beleive Google is associated with such a company!
